How many times have you been to a party and the Disco has
been disappointing or has even spoilt the occasion? Or
observed the lazy DJ who puts on pre-recorded sequences of
music and disappears until the party's nearly over? These
nightmare scenarios do happen and can be due to many
factors, but mainly because the DJ himself did not have the
necessary experience, equipment or professional skills required.
Too many special occasions are ruined by amateur Discos with
excessive volume, poor sound systems, the wrong choice of songs or DJs with no
personality and an uncaring, unprofessional approach.
We've even witnessed 'the friend of a friend' who kindly
entertained guests with tracks from his own personal music
collection without 'reading the crowd' or knowing what music
makes a party truly successful. This resulted in an empty
dance floor, many guests leaving early and a very upset
Bride and Groom who admitted they wished they had hired a
professional DJ.

As part of your entertainment package Pop of Ages can also provide highly recommended professional DJs to compliment the live music.
In
our experience a combination of great live music from Pop of
Ages with one of our top Discos will make for a fantastic party
and is a great way to ensure all music styles, tastes
and on the spot requests are catered for. We also recommend hiring a DJ
if you plan to finish your event after midnight.

Over the last 20 years,
the members of the band have worked with literally hundreds of different
Discos, some were good, others truly awful, but a very small number
were excellent.
We contract the select few
who are fully professional DJs and have worked with Pop of Ages on
numerous occasions before. This will ensure your Disco and DJ will be of
the highest quality, producing a seamless night of entertainment, a
fantastic selection of songs, stunning light and sound and complete
peace of mind for you during your event.

Disco Music provided by the band
With all bookings Pop of Ages provide
FREE Disco music on CD during breaks and up until
midnight as standard. You are of course welcome to bring along your own mixes
on CD, iPOD or Laptop and we will play those too. We also provide Disco
lighting (at no extra charge) so you can be sure that the party
atmosphere will be kept alive even when the band are not playing!
Warning - Free DJ service?
Please kindly be aware that some bands
now claim to offer a 'Free DJ Service' . You will find that this claim
is at best misleading and in most cases the DJ will be one of the band
members playing MP3s from a Laptop. This is NOT the same as hiring
a fully professional, skilled & experienced DJ playing your special
songs, taking on the spot requests, mixing tracks for non-stop dancing,
reading the crowd and interacting with the audience. There may even be a
hidden charge included in the band's overall fee to cover the 'DJ' for
his overtime, when in fact the service he is providing is no different
than the 'pre-recorded disco music for breaks' service that most
reputable professional function bands offer for free as standard.

Often Pop of Ages and our DJ's share sound and
lighting equipment: this can benefit you in three different ways:
1) By only using one sound system and
lighting rig, overall costs can often be reduced thereby saving you money.
2)
If space is limited, only one sound system shared by the band and DJ takes up less
dance floor space and provides a safer and tidier environment for your guests.
There will be less light stands, tripods, PA Speakers, cables. leads etc. and
this benefits everyone.
3) If you are organising a large function for over 250 guests,
equipment can be combined to produce an impressive sound and light show
without having to hire in a specialist company. (Please note we only provide a
DJ if the band are also booked for the same event.) |
